On the 16th day of rain in New York City I finally got my butt up to the upper east side to see the Francis Bacon exhibit I've been trying to see. I always get pissed off when i go to museums on the weekends because its usually packed and annoying. Lucky for me, the rain kept some people away and it was tolerable. For those of you that don't know, Irish born English artist Francis Bacon has been coined THE best artist of the late 20th century. Big title. Like Mary would say, this guy is the truth! The 66 pieced exhibit showed off all the angst, weirdness, blood sex and bodies anyone could want. I felt like i was looking into his nightmares and illusions. A lot of carcasses, psycho animal studies, and faceless flesh. The coloring is amazing as well of the scale of the pieces. Once you know the bio of the guy you can understand more of how he has these visions and emotion. The dude that says " love is the devil". I definitely walked out of there a little exhausted from the visual stimulation and thought provoking pieces.. kinda reminded me of a modern Goya's black paintings. My favorite was Blood on Pavement, which is the last picture i put up. Interpret it for yourself, but please go see it in person.
