Alife Tokyo store in new issue of Wallpaper magazine

Wallpaper Magazine included the new Tokyo Alife store in its 2008 Retail Directory.

Tokyo has long had an intense love affair with American-designed sneakers. Indeed, it didn’t take long after the first Alife store opened in New York in the late 1990s for its range to cross the Atlantic and become an instant hit with Harajuku hipsters.

Alife’s Tokyo flagship is a luxuriously appointed room where the beautifully arrayed stock includes two towering vitrines – one piled higgledy-piggledy with its exuberantly coloured sneakers in hot orange, baby blues and other eye-popping hues, and the other with accessories.

We’re rather fond of the current fall collection that includes a stylish grey tweed pattern, and the contrasting range of off-beat T-shirts. Then again, you would expect nothing less from a label with such an off-kilter sense of humour that its New York Rivington Street store boasts a fish tank filled with piranhas.
